Why is an eye examination important?

It is important for the elderly and housebound to receive regular eye examinations because poor vision will hinder general daily tasks and make such comforts such as reading and watching television far more difficult.

A routine eye examination can also help detect many systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, tumours, multiple sclerosis, eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, age related macula degeneration and retinal detachment.
